he Pride Center of Western New York serves as a referral service, short-term counseling provider, and community center for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) communities of Western New York. The Pride Center acts as a referral agency connecting LGBT persons with health, mental health, and legal services sensitive to the needs of LGBT clients and supportive of their health and wellness. The Pride Center offers support groups catering to the needs of the LGBT communities it serves, such as: a coming out group, gender identity & support talk (GIST), married men's/women's group, breast cancer survivor groups for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender men & women, their families, and partners. The Pride Center offers a safe, healthy, and supportive environment including access to a lending library dedicated to LGBT subject matter, a public use computer, and regularly scheduled social activities for LGBT persons in a substance free environment. The education department of AIDS Community Services is proud to announce Camp H.E.A.T. (Healthy Environment for Active Teens) Leadership Academy.  Camp H.E.A.T. is a FREE life skills training camp for all youth ages 10-15.   Camp H.E.A.T will meet Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 12:00 – 4:00 pm at AIDS Community Services, 206 S. Elmwood Avenue (5th Floor) Buffalo, NY 14201.  Topics covered will include healthy living, personal safety, sexual health education, and professional development! Each day will be packed with fun and exciting activities, field trips, and more!  Snacks are provided.There are 2 sessions:

Haven House provides support, information, legal consultation by volunteer lawyers, and referral to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender victims of intimate partner violence/domestic violence through the 24-hour, confidential hotline.  Currently, women and their children are able to utilize emergency shelter services at Haven House.


The LGBT IPV Victim Advocate Program provides individual supportive counseling, client advocacy with police, courts and other community services, as well as community outreach and education about LGBT intimate partner violence.  Haven House and the LGBT IPV Victim Advocate are working towards developing the Safe Home Network Program.  The Safe Home Network will be a program that provides safe, confidential emergency shelter options to LGBT individuals who may be unable to access current emergency domestic violence resources.
